The Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of an industrial manufacturing facility. This role oversees accounting, cost control, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, ensuring the company's financial health while supporting production efficiency and profitability. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, with specific knowledge of job costing and inventory control in a precision machining context.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Oversight

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Cost Accounting & Job Costing

  • Maintain detailed job cost records, including materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Analyze production costs and variances; work with operations to improve margins.
  • Monitor and control inventory valuation, cycle counts, and adjustments.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the development of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Track budget vs. actual performance and investigate variances.
  • Support management in capital planning and investment decisions.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard assets.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audits or reviews.

Operational Support

  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and engineering teams to align financial goals with operational performance.
  • Provide financial insight for pricing, quoting, and capacity planning.
  • Analyze financial impact of machine utilization, downtime, and scrap rates.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Ensure accurate data entry, reporting, and financial processes across the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/controlling roles, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and ERP systems (Infor Visual)
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting software.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of precision machining processes, inventory control, and job shop environments is highly preferred.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, small to mid-size manufacturing operation.
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
